To The Editor:

Bond votes, grant money, Secret Santa, conflict of interest, buying votes, hidden agendas, swaying the public vote, task forces, good guys, bad guys, conspiracy theories, dog and pony show.

C'mon folks, why does every issue have to split this town? What happened to transparency? Why can't we have one vote on an issue and live with the results? I don't know why we would want to take a prime piece of village real estate (Farm Stand, etc.) and put up a municipal building! There are so many other options. We are told that this choice is a great deal for the town. Take the $750,000 grant money and the $100,000 gift out of the equation and we are getting a one-story building with a partial second floor that cannot be used for $1 million-plus! Where's the bargain? If we were spending our own money, we'd sure as heck be looking at other alternatives. Seems like every time Waitsfield completes a project there are always surprises. The failed wastewater system. Surprise! We still owe the state $700,000. The water system. Surprise! Needs to be chlorinated. The sidewalks. Surprise! Where'd those telephone poles come from? Stay tuned for the next surprises.

To all voters in town (1,400-plus), are you going to allow 300 or 400 people to decide for you? Please get out and vote on October 22.
