To The Editor and residents of Moretown:

I'm informing you that shortly before noon on June 17 the VCDP Disaster Recovery Implementation Grant was submitted.

The grant was submitted for $865,286. This is the total of the Moretown Town Office construction cost estimate and the so-called "owner soft costs."

The town most likely will be asked for more data, input or changes. It is my understanding that a committee within the Vermont Community Development Program is meeting in mid-July to consider the application. I do not know when the decision about whether or not to fund this request is being announced. Of course, I'll keep you informed as to what we get for requests and what we hear regarding updates.

I would like to thank the Town Office Planning Committee (TOC) for the many, many hours you all put in to get the town to this point: Jonathan Siegel, John Schmeltzer, Diana Costello, Duane Pierson and to our ad hoc member Ray Daigle! Thanks, too, to the select board for your support, insights and energy. A huge thanks to Henry Erickson and, of course, over the last few months to Maclay Architects, namely Bill Gallup and Bill Maclay! Also, thank you to many Moretown residents for taking time out of their days to help move the process forward. Thank you to the Moretown School Board for your unanimous support for the "playground site"!

Cheryl Brown, John Schmeltzer, Diana Costello, and Henry Erickson and Bill Gallup, thanks for all your time, energy and expertise in writing the grant! A nice group effort!

I can't tell you how lucky we are to have Cheryl Brown! You are fantastic!

There's still much to do. I hope!

Clark Amadon, chair

Moretown Town Office Planning Committee
