To The Editor:

Reuse of  historical buildings in a registered historical town is the goal.

Speaking with many people in the Mad River Valley about the location of the town office, everyone says YES we have a duty to preserve history. Using the Methodist church as our town hall brings with it the history of the town, state and country plus a modern efficient office space in the exact proper location. Now, when we bring in cost nobody wants to spend money to make a historical town worse.  So spending money on a brand spanking new building while letting a perfectly useful and perfectly located one rot away is wasteful and against any so-called New England values.

The town office task force has worked hard and I know everyone wants to see planning finished, decisions made and projects moved ahead.  But we the townspeople cannot compromise on our history and a project that will last another 100 years.
