To The Editor:

The Warren United Church had two packed services on Christmas Eve, maybe because of the rawness people were feeling after the sorrow at Sandy Hook? During the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service, Pastor Susan McKnight read a story by Max Lucado titled "I Will Not Abandon You." The story describes a rebellious teenager breaking her father's heart, a heart full of forgiveness and love. The story parallels our relationship to God. The letters were the many opportunities that we turn away from, people disappoint (as did the boyfriend), we are often involved with God when we are young, but when negative events enter our lives, we live without God, etc.

On most Sundays you'll hear Pastor Susan preach on contemporary topics, bigger perspectives and ways to become kinder (laughter is frequent). We have an amazing spirit of community at Warren United Church of Christ and our doors are open to everyone. Warren Church is known locally as "the little church with a big heart" and we invite you back.
