I'm concerned that the proposed 17-acre quarry would not only severely diminish property values but it would also quell interest from tourists entering the Mad River Valley via 100B, which has been labeled a scenic byway by the Vermont Transportation Board. The environmental side effects would also likely be air, noise and water pollution.

So far, both the Moretown Development Review Board and the Act 250 Commission have denied the quarry, but the fight is not over. Rivers Development LLC., the proponents of the quarry, has applied for appeals on both the Development Review Board and Act 250 Commission's decisions.
