It was an exciting year for the Lady Highlanders ice hockey team, according to Coach Mike Martini.
"We made great strides on the ice as well as in the locker room. Our team goals were to finish with a record of 500 or better, and perhaps get a home playoff game for the first time in our short history."
"We finished the regular season with a record of 14-5-1, earning fourth place in the 14-team Lake Division and the home seed for our first two playoff games. We went 1-1 in the playoffs, defeating North Country 9-0 and suffering a tough loss to Rutland, 1-2, to finish with a record of 15-6-1. The hard work and dedication of our girls was proof positive for our success this season," he added.
"Although hockey is a team sport, there are players on our team that have been recognized by the Vermont Ice Hockey Coaches Association. Seniors Ashley Sweet and Hanna Martini were nominated and played in the Senior Rotary Club All-Star Game, with fellow seniors Randi Lowe, Kelsey LaCroix and Celia Cadwell earning alternate honors," he continued.
Vermont Ice Hockey Coaches Association All-Star selections this year were Hanna Martini, second team all-stars, and Ashley Sweet and Chelsea Stanclift, third team all-stars.
