Karen Ann Mead

Karen Ann Mead, 58, of Williamsville, NY, and formerly of Warren, passed away at Buffalo (NY) General Medical Center on Friday, June 27, 2014, following a sudden illness. Born in Stamford, CT, on July 12, 1955, she was the daughter of John E. O'Neill and the late Rita (Royal) O'Neill.

Karen attended schools in Stamford, CT, and following graduation went to work as an administrative assistant for a medical office. She later was employed as vice president and secretary for Burndi Industries before moving to Vermont in the late 1970s.

Karen had a varied and fulfilling working career. She was employed for several years as a Realtor for VARE Real Estate in Warren; she worked in her family's business, High Country Shielding of Warren, as the office manager and then purchased Beggar's Banquet Restaurant in Waitsfield, which she operated for several years. Her life then took her to Buffalo, NY, where she was co-owner of Power Up Manufacturing. Most recently she worked as a hospice caregiver for Assisting Angels Senior Care.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed skiing, tennis, traveling, dining out as well as owning and driving sports cars.

Karen is survived by her father, John E. O'Neill of Warren; her sister, Sheila Brooks and her husband Robin of Ansonia, CT; her brothers, John D. O'Neill of Warren and William O'Neill and his wife Debra of Barre; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Karen was predeceased by her son, Adam James Snow, on February 21, 2006.

Graveside committal services will be held from Warren Village Cemetery on July 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Warren Town Hall. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to Assisting Angels Senior Care, P.O. Box 445, Getzville, NY 14068. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury. To send online condolences visit www.perkinsparker.com and Facebook.
