Norma O. Austin, 82, of Spillway Road in Moretown, passed away at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Born in Hoosick Falls, NY, on December 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Verna (Moon) Woodard. On April 8, 1949, Norma married Kenneth Harold Austin in Moretown. Ken predeceased Norma on January 3, 2002.
Norma attended schools in Bennington and as a young woman was involved in the Civil Air Patrol. Following her marriage, she made her home in Moretown where she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. She was a member of the Moretown United Methodist Church and enjoyed the companionship of her feline friends.
Norma is survived by her son, Mark Kenneth Austin, and his wife, Pat, of Moretown; 4 grandchildren, Mark Austin II, David Austin, Ronald Austin and Amanda Austin; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Rose Austin of Moretown, Edna Prouty and Ruth Horn, both of Bennington; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Melissa Austin; two sisters, Louise Berbig and Helen Garvie; and three brothers, Don Woodard, Paul Woodard and Del Woodard.
Graveside inurnment services will be held from the Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown later this spring. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
