Moretown celebrates 250th anniversary

Moretown celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of its charter by hosting a four-day activity-filled event that takes place Thursday, May 24, through Sunday, May 26, throughout the village.

Activities will include a barbecue at Moretown Elementary School on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.; a potluck followed by a historical presentation at the Town Hall Friday at 5:30 p.m.; a village-wide yard sale Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by live music and dancing at the Town Hall at 6 p.m. (A complete schedule is listed below.)

Commemorative Moretown 250th T-shirts will be available for sale throughout the weekend at the Moretown Town Hall. Proceeds go to the Moretown Historical Society. Thursday
4:30 pm – Moretown Elementary School – BBQ, suggested donation
6:00 pm – Moretown Elementary School – MES Students talent show

Friday
5:30 pm – Moretown Town Hall – Potluck Dinner, bring a dish to serve 10-12
7:00 pm – Moretown Town Hall – Historic Presentation of the town's Stage Curtains by Christine Hadsel of the Vermont Humanities Council

Saturday
9am – 3pm – Village-wide Yard Sale and Activities
10am – 2pm – Moretown General Store – Moretown Library Book Sale
12:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Face Painting
3:00 pm – Seven Stones Meadow behind the Library – Ducky races
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Moretown Fire Department – BBQ
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Moretown Town Hall – Live music and Dancing with Big Hat, No Cattle
8:00 pm – Moretown Town Hall – 50/50 Raffle Drawing
After Dark – Seven Stones Meadow behind the Library – Bonfire

1:00 pm – Moretown Town Hall – Local historic presentation of Taplin School – one of Moretown's historic one room schools
2:00 pm – Moretown Town Hall – Cake Cutting & Eating!
