The Washington West Supervisory Union budget for next year, which was approved on January 3, is $1,135,663, an increase of 4.4 percent.
The budget includes a 2.9 percent increase in the general assessment, a 7.2 percent increase in the business office, a 5.8 percent increase in fiscal services and a 5.3 percent increase in special education services.
Superintendent Brigid Scheffert is receiving a 5.3 percent salary increase, per her contract with the district, bringing her salary to $119,000 for 2014. Special education salaries are up 4.2 percent with salaries for a director of student support services and an administrative assistant approved at $104,221, up from last year’s $100,087 for the two positions.
In the business office, the business manager will be receiving a 5 percent salary increase, from $86,250 to $90,563.
In the fiscal services department, salaries are up 4.4 percent with “fiscal support staff” salaries approved at $180,296, up from last year’s $172,618. The budget spreadsheet provided by Washington West Supervisory Union does not specify how many employees are “fiscal support staff.”
Per town, the supervisory union costs are calculated as follows for 2014:
Fayston, $57,635, up from $56,048 in 2013;
Moretown, $60,766, up from $59,072 in 2013;
Waitsfield, $80,556, up from $75,914 in 2013;
Warren, $90,451, up from $83,711 in 2013;
Waterbury/Duxbury, U-45 $392,722, up from 366,033 in 2013;
Harwood Union, $417,034, up from $401,559.
