Sugarbush Resort is 100% open and anticipates more snow this week

With a large winter storm in the forecast, Sugarbush already has 100 percent of its trails open for skiing and riding.

Sugarbush credits its existing snowmaking infrastructure, recent investments in new snowmaking technology and Mother Nature for achieving this goal before all the other resorts in the Northeast.

“Sugarbush has picked up 55 inches of snow at upper elevations in just the last 11 days,” said Win Smith, president of Sugarbush.

Currently under a winter storm warning issued by the national weather service, the Sugarbush area is expecting more snow this week. Heavy snow was forecasted to begin Wednesday evening continuing through Thursday and tapering off overnight on Thursday. Forecasters are calling for 8 to 14 inches with the heaviest snowfall at upper elevations and along the eastern slope of the Green Mountains.

Daily après-ski live music, culinary festivals, kid’s nights and the annual New Year’s Eve dog parade and fireworks are just some of the happenings on the calendar.
