High Noon for High Emissions - Green Car Rally in The Valley

Hybrids. Biodiesel and veggie oil trucks and cars. EVs. Electric Bikes.... Come one, come all. Mad River Valley and Central Vermont residents are invited to congregate with their clean, green, and environmentally friendly cars and trucks on Saturday, April 21, at noon at the Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield.

Owners/drivers of biodiesel vehicles, veggie oil vehicles, hybrid cars and trucks, electric vehicles, propane vehicles and other alternative fuel vehicles are encouraged to bring their rides to the parking lot of the Big Picture Theater at 12 p.m. this Saturday for "High Noon for High Emissions." The green car (and truck) rally is one of the features of the "Mad River Energy Day" which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Big Picture and is part of the Seven Days for the Earth.

"We want to show that everyone can take a step toward reducing their contributions to global climate change," said Erin Russell-Story, one of the Energy Day organizers.

Alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles reduce air pollution emissions, greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce our dependence on oil - especially foreign oil.

"So many people are already doing the right thing with the cars they drive. Look around. How many hybrids do you see in single day? We want to bring those folks together to celebrate and to spread the word about how easy it is to reduce the carbon footprint of your driving habits," said Dennis Derryberry of the Mad River Sustainability Group.
