The new Gate House lodge at Sugarbush will be the site of the second annual Festival of Lights Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 19, beginning at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
A 25-foot live holiday tree graces the plaza in front of the just-completed base lodge. Strolling carolers, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, and cash bar will highlight the event. At 6 p.m. Win Smith, president of Sugarbush Resort, will announce the winners of the Festival of Lights decorating contest and award nearly $5,000 in cash prizes to more than a dozen participants. Fifty-seven homes, trees, shops, and businesses were registered for the contest this year. A donation of $1,000 will also be awarded by Sugarbush to the Mad River Valley Community Fund.
The Chamber of Commerce will be holding its holiday mixer in conjunction with the celebration.
The public is invited to attend the evening's events and tour the new base area development at Lincoln Peak. The Gate House opened on December 9. The new Timbers restaurant and Clay Brook residences are expected to open on schedule this weekend.
While there is no charge to attend the Festival of Lights Holiday Party, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council, sponsor of the local emergency food shelf.
