I wish to give thanks to the multitude of people who gave of themselves in a variety of ways to help me through Irene.
Thank you to the neighbors, friends, family and folks I’ve never met who rescued thousands of pumpkins and squash and moved them to higher ground.
Thank you to the GMVS students who moved everything back two days later.
Thank you to the folks who rolled up their sleeves to clean the mess in the farmstand and haul it away.
Thank you to my farm crew who donated their time even though the season ended early for them.
Thank you to all of the people who scoured the fields of debris and removed rocks, sand, gravel, trees and garbage.
Thank you to the Johnson State College female athletes who dug the plastic out of the muck between the sweet potato beds.
Thank you to the flood relief headquarters for coordinating help.
Thank you to my friends at Sweet Pea who managed an early CSA sign-up, and to those who participated.
A big thank you to those who gave donations to help ease the loss of income.
It is a great comfort to know there are so many people with kind hearts. May you all have a great holiday and know you have done something very special.
