To The Editor:
The characteristics of a good state representative are the ability to listen, to understand the diverse values expressed by competing views, to work with diverse interests to craft meaningful legislation, and have the wisdom to balance the rights of the individual with the well-being of society.
Freedom and Unity, our state motto, are difficult to incorporate into our lives but essential to keeping Vermont the best state to call home.
Carol Hosford has demonstrated an ability to listen and work across party lines. She has done that for most of her professional life as a teacher and school principal. She is highly respected in Montpelier and has the common sense to know what is possible and what is necessary.
Carol has represented The Valley well by supporting what we find important, including legislation that supports affordable housing, provides opportunities for new energy sources and protects groundwater for future generations.
She is a leader in efforts to contain education costs while maintaining the quality of our schools. I know from experience that this is not going to change with one representative's input but with the leadership, experience and collaborative relationships that Carol has already demonstrated.
Please support Carol Hosford for state representative.
