A dog with a lust for deer

To the Editor:

This happened on North Fayston Road, about 2.5 miles up the road.
On Monday morning I made a grisly discovery. A deer had been pursued and slaughtered in my driveway. The carcass was only six feet from the garage door. The deer had been killed and partially eaten from the rump.

Tuesday morning my neighbor across the street noticed a large blood stain in the snow and a pile of entrails in the yard. Another fresh killed deer carcass was in her lower front yard.
After speaking with the U.S. Department of Wildlife and a professional trapper it sounds like a dog with a lust for deer. A less likely culprit would be a coyote, but because the carcass wasn't fully eaten it sounded more like domestic dog to those that know.
