Thunder in the Vicinity
Wind: 7 mph
To The Editor:
A response to Lynn Kafer's letter last week: I will agree that home heating oil is outrageously priced. But, please do not point your frustrations toward our locally owned and operated businesses.
They are merely the "monkey in the middle," trying to make an honest living. Just this week the larger oil companies reported some of the largest profits to date. Our elected officials in Washington should be approaching these companies and asking questions. As far as the $150 extra to deliver it the seven miles to your house, that is the cost; it costs the company to deliver "off route." Until the president and congress, along with the stock traders, start asking questions and stop paying the top dollar that is currently being paid, we, the working poor, have to tighten up and make do however we can. But please don't blame the local guy who brings the oil to your house.
