To The Editor:
I want to thank you for the excellent profile on Phil King which he forwarded to us in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over the years, Phil has sent many articles from The Valley Reporter, so we feel it is our local newspaper. And it may actually be, because we are summer residents of Addison County on Lake Champlain, and we follow the summer events in The Valley.
Often I have lamented the bygone days of local newspapers which gave such excellent obituary and wedding coverage. Of course I see now that <MI>The Valley Reporter<D> is still doing that humanitarian service. I am a King, Phil's niece, and I have the same roots in Ely, MN, described in your article. The most informative genealogical resource we have on the family is an obituary from a 1942 clipping, from the local newspaper of the tiny town, Coleraine, MN. I believe such things are still kept and become valuable records. Your "Senior Moment" of January 31, 2008 will be, for sure.
