To The Editor:
Leo Benjamin has been working hard on his rehabilitation from his horseback riding accident. He is now in a rehabilitation center in Augusta, Georgia, that is known for providing excellent care for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke. He has a rigorous schedule of physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy that keeps him busy all day. He is sleeping on a regular schedule and has been trying hard to eat a full diet on his own.
Leo has a tentative discharge date from The Walton Rehabilitation hospital of January 13. This is more of a goal, but does define where his care is moving to in the future. He may very well meet this goal. He will be discharged to his home in Wagener, SC, and then continue with daily therapy both in the home as well as at the local Hitchcock Clinic in Aiken, SC.
We have a website with photos and more updates at http://studentnurse.brraphael.org. Please visit and leave comments; an email link to Leo is also available there.
